The Staff Physical Therapist is responsible for the prescription of the attending physician, evaluating and establishing a treatment plan to restore function; to prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part; and to teach the patient in a manner appropriate to their age so as to obtain their maximum performance capabilities.
Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and a supervised clinical internship of at least four months required.
License to practice physical therapy in the State of Nebraska.
Current driver's license required.
BLS certification required
Stand and/or walk up to seven hours per day.
Sit up to one hour per day.
Push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Manual dexterity and eye hand coordination required.
Visual Acuity required.
Reach, bend, stoop, kneel and crawl throughout the day.
May drive two or more hours a day, in most weather conditions, except when safety is a factor.
Lift waist to waist up to 50 pounds frequently, floor to waist 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds waist to overhead occasionally.
Plans therapy program for each patient in a manner appropriate to their age as prescribed by a physician, involving physical means, such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light and electricity.
Directs patients in a manner appropriate to their age in the care and use of wheel chairs, braces, canes, crutches, and prosthetic and orthopedic devices.
Adapts conventional therapeutic techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercise.
Evaluates, records and reports patient progress for review by other members of the Home Care team.
Uses all modalities and procedures as needed per diagnosis.
Makes use of equipment, such as low voltage generators, and ultrasonic machines.
Directs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait and functional training.
Applies diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests.
Demonstrates safe and competent use of equipment.
Demonstrates proper use of software applications to carry out duties.
