We are seeking a Principal HR Generalist in our North Haven, CT manufacturing facility to provide strategic expertise and consultation in the areas of workforce planning, employee engagement and retention, talent development, coaching, and support of multiple time-bound initiatives throughout the year. You will partner with managers to build strong teams and engage employees, bringing experience and expertise to the table, while closely partnering with HR Centers of Expertise to drive solutions. You will utilize your HR expertise to develop strong relationships with managers and employees at all levels of the organization through various methods of communication.

A Day in the Life

As the Principal HR Generalist, you will serve as a key business partner for the Medtronic manufacturing site in North Haven, CT supporting the business leaders to manage/implement various projects that will enhance the employee experience. You will:

  • Design, implement, and execute human resources strategies for manufacturing sites and functional groups.

  • Drive structural and organizational design and development solutions, along with change management activities, to improve organizational effectiveness.

  • Anticipate and plan for long-term human resource needs and trends in partnership with business leaders.

  • Advise and coach people leaders, leveraging the Medtronic Mindset, to develop employees at all levels.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop, manage, and implement projects to proactively resolve HR and business issues.

  • Serve as an HR liaison in key projects.

  • Advise and counsel managers on matters related to identifying and attracting key talent, developing succession plans, utilizing recognition and rewards, and helping managers drive performance improvement and career growth within their teams.

  • Work in partnership with HR Centers of Expertise (COEs) on talent acquisition efforts, employee relations initiatives, restructuring efforts, compensation, talent development, and more.

  • Improve manager capability through coaching and implementation of management development programs and opportunities; identify leadership development needs.

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Gather and analyze data and trends to determine key organizational needs within the site and facilitate decision-making with proactive solutions that solve these needs.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience in manufacturing preferred, and/or other business that operates 24/7.

  • Experience working in a diverse, fast-paced business with evolving priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed to effectively communicate with an employee population comprised of 2,000+ employees and contingent labor.

  • Well-rounded Generalist background with in-depth knowledge of all functional areas of HR.

  • Project Management Professional - PMP certification

  • Lean Sigma experience

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
