As an Associate Scientist, Data II in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you’ll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.

Purpose

AbbVie’s Operations and Enterprise Systems (OES) Data Science team is continuously innovating to drive advanced data capabilities across the Operations domain, particularly within Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Science and Technology applications.

We are looking for early career achievers in STEM domains interested in pursuing opportunities within Data Science. In this role, you will perform data analysis and modeling, collaborate with cross-functional Operations teams, and be supported to continuously learn and develop modern data ideologies.

Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis and Modeling: Perform cleaning, analysis, and modeling on datasets related to general Pharmaceutical Operations.

  • Data Engineering: Perform basic data engineering tasks, including data model and visual pipeline development, knowledge graphs, and vector database management.

  • Generative AI: Stay current on generative AI trends and innovations. Apply learnings to internal applications and projects.

  • Visualization: Utilize custom data visualizations within Python and R to explore and present data to stakeholders. Learn and implement front-end development skills for hosting web applications.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with peers and cross-functional teams within Operations to understand and address business-related challenges and opportunities.

  • Communication: Develop concise and valuable reports and present findings and model insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Continuous-Learner: Actively engage in learning opportunities to stay updated on the latest developments within data science and related domains. Pursue professional development opportunities to expand your expertise.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field. Can include Math, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, or Biology.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a STEM or related field.

  • Demonstrated mathematics and statistics skills.

  • Creative-thinker able to apply first principles reasoning to solve complex problems.

  • Able to showcase a detail-oriented approach to work.

  • Experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python or R) or data querying languages (e.g. SQL).

Preferred

  • Basic experience with dashboard visualization tools, including Power BI, Plotly Dash, RShiny, and custom HTML and CSS frameworks.

  • Domain knowledge within Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing Operations, or a translational field from prior internship or career experience.

  • Experience with simulation and planning within Supply chain and/or finance domains.
