Job Description

Purpose

Responsible for compliance oversight of Global EHS programs through EHS regulatory monitoring and impact assessment, establishing global EHS standards(procedures) and training, and Global EHS auditing programs to minimize EHS liability for the company and minimize risk to employees and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor EHS regulatory requirements for the enterprise and enforcement trends, conduct impact analyses, implement action plans for compliance, and monitor global compliance.

  • Complete annual OSHA and BLS regulatory reporting for the Lake County site and provide assistance, where necessary, for U.S. and Puerto Rico based sites.

  • Responsible for the oversight and execution of the Global EHS Document Management Program (DMP) which consists of the Global level EHS Policies, Management Standards, Technical Standards and procedures that are implemented across the enterprise. This includes, but is not limited to, developing new documents and maintenance of existing documents, document translations, management of cross functional teams, and ensuring effective communications. Lake County based support is also provided.

  • Develop and implement global EHS training that aligns with programs/procedures and promotes understanding and retention of concepts. This includes, but is not limited to, developing new training and maintenance of existing training, translations, content development and delivery, and interaction with cross functional teams. Lake County based support is also provided.

  • Provide vision and oversight for the Global EHS auditing program which consists of varying audit types such as Comprehensive EHS audits, Preventing Catastrophic Incidents audits, Environmental audits as well as the annual EHS Data Assurance Review certification audit.

  • Summarize and report compliance status, strengths and priority issues, and recommendations for various levels of management and ensure implementation of corrective actions.

  • Think strategically and ensure deliverables are aligned with broader organization and create awareness of this direction with affected members/business functions.

  • Visualize beyond short-term deliverables and expectations; monitor trends and practices external to own organization (both inside and outside of company) and facilitate continuous improvements that have long-term value.

  • Provide leadership and direction to direct staff through the promotion of teamwork, empowerment, coaching and development, and manage team performance to ensure organization objectives are met.

  • Lead and/or participate on cross functional teams to represent EHS objectives related to the subject matter and to meet the team’s overall strategic objectives and deliverables.

  • Scope of position has global reach, represents company with external organizations, prepares or contributes to sustainability related reports for external viewing, prepares or contributes to reports for regulatory agencies, minimizes company liability related to EHS impacts, and investigates EHS related incidents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (EHS related, Engineering) plus 10+ years of EHS related experience or Master’s Degree (EHS related, Engineering) plus 8-10 years of EHS related experience. EHS related experience in operations or R&D environmental preferred. EHS professional certification is preferred, but not required.

  • Working experience implementing EHS regulations, conducting incident investigations, interacting with regulatory agencies and external organizations, and managing cross functional teams.

  • Ability to plan against business targets, review and approve plans developed by other areas, and balance resources to achieve key business targets and strategic plan.

  • Ability to define scope and magnitude of problem, provide rapid and detailed assessment, coordinate response, present short-and long-term options, and develop procedures to minimize likelihood of re-occurrence.

  • Ability to actively listen, build/maintain effective working relationships with internal/external colleagues/resources, and resolve conflict.

  • Ability to create a motivating environment, make decision, influence outcomes, and negotiate to achieve agreements while successfully representing EHS in a decision situation.

  • Ability to successfully manage projects and programs.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​
