RATE OF PAY:            $17.75 per hour

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Archives Summer Student works in Ontario Northland’s Records Centre establishing a complete and accurate inventory of historical records in ONTC’s care.  The role involves identifying and describing the

archives collection of records in a variety of formats, selecting and digitizing archival photographs and

other records, and sorting, inventorying and organizing other historical agency records as needed.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Using existing inventory and database tools, validate/complete current inventory and organize Ontario Northland’s archives collection of historical records

  • Working with appropriate ONTC stakeholders, develop a selection strategy for archival photographs and digitize selected photographs to archival standards, creating a central, organized storage repository

  • Digitize, add metadata “tags” to Board minutes and Commission minute books, and create a central storage repository

  • Inventory and digitize engineering drawings, maps and other historical collections as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preference given to students enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program or entering full-time post-secondary studies in September 2025

  • Must be able to work full-time hours (40 hours per week)

  • Good work ethic, energetic and enthusiastic

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently

  • Must be committed to Health and Safety
