L3Harris has an immediate opening for a Sr EEE Parts & Components Engineer for our Space and Airborne Systems segment to join our growing team. The engineer will be responsible for supporting our Amityville, NY location in the development and support of aerospace release systems, antenna products, and Telemetry systems. This includes all phases of product development from advanced research and development thru design and on to production support. Tasks will include development of component requirements, parts selection, addressing obsolescence issues and working closely with design and electrical engineering, supply chain, quality, and reliability.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop requirements and qualification test plans thru customer approval for non-standard Parts, Materials, and Processes (ie. PARs, MAR’s, PMPCB approval).

  • Support component selection and requirements for advanced development and technologies.

  • Develop part specifications (ie. SCD’s/VIDs/VICDs).

  • Provide inputs to program to ensure implementation of PM&P requirements.

  • Provide leadership in the implementation of PM&P requirements using current engineering principles in the early review of PM&P selection.

  • Manage and resolve obsolescence/End of Life (EOL) issues.

  • Assist design engineering in selecting appropriate parts based on mission requirements.

  • Resolve supplier issues in cooperation with quality and supply chain.

  • Provide support to subcontractors for all PM&P concerns.

  • Support and perform Failure Analysis including failure analysis writeups.

  • Address obsolescence with forward looking plans and mitigation.

  • Perform DMS/GIDEP monitoring and develop reports to detail findings and recommended solutions.

  • Support multiple programs through multitasking.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience with aerospace requirements for components including Aerospace TOR.

  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience with electronic obsolescence tools and methods.

  • Eligiblity to obtain a security clearance.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in failure analysis/RCCA.

  • Experience with multiple component families (Hybrids, Microcircuits, Semiconductors, Oscillators, Passive devices, etc.).

  • Experience with working cooperatively with suppliers to resolve issues.

  • Experience with MIL-HDBK-217F, MIL-STD-882E, or MIL-STD-1629A.

  • Experience in reliability engineering developing FMEAs, Electrical Parts Stress Analysis (ESA), or similar.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications, HAYSTACK, Accuris, orSilicone Expert.

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $120,000 - $171,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
