Job Summary

Serving as a vital member of the Illinois State University Development team and reporting to the Senior Director of Development, College of Arts and Sciences, the Director of Development/Associate Director of Development works as a major gift officer (soliciting gifts at a minimum of \$25,000 in the form of pledges, outright gifts, and planned gifts.) The individual holding the position will be empowered to develop and execute strategies and plans to cultivate, solicit, secure, and steward major gifts as well as qualify new major gift prospects in alignment with the strategic priorities of the University. This position is a generalist, working with individual donors on behalf of the entire University. As appropriate, the individual will collaborate with development colleagues working on behalf of ISU colleges or administrative units and with deans, other campus administrative leaders, and faculty/staff.\ \ Regular and frequent visits and substantive contacts with constituents are critical in this position. As such, significant local, statewide, and national travel will be an essential part of the position, as well as occasional participation in evening and weekend activities.\ \ This position will interact with a great deal of people who are very important to the University. The effectiveness of this work contributes to an enhanced institutional image, improved internal and external relationships, development of a philanthropic culture on campus, and the ability to generate private funds for the University.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

\$60,000 - \$85,000 Commensurate with experience, combined with an excellent benefits package

Preferred Qualifications

1. Demonstrated experience in successful major gift fundraising.\ 2. Experience working in higher education.

Work Hours

8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m with some evening/weekend work

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:\ \ Ability to effectively communicate on a daily basis.\ Ability to conduct or attend meetings in various locations on and off campus.\ Ability to perform sedentary work involving sitting the majority of the time.
