Robert Half Staff Accountant in Norfolk, Virginia

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Construction/Contractor industry. This position is based in Norfolk, Virginia, 23502, United States. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting the accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization/project office.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to department standards.

• Report on the organization's finances to the Controller.

• Establish records of accounts and input entries into the proper accounts.

• Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.

• Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.

• Undertake additional assignments as directed by management.

• Process accounts payable in accordance with the procedures established by Management.

• Prepare documentation for contracts, transactions, or regulatory compliance while demonstrating excellent work habits.

• Display strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Execute Journal Entries, Annual Financial Reporting, Expense Reporting, Accounts Payable (AP) tasks. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Staff Accountant in the construction/contractor industry.

• Proficiency in creating and maintaining Journal Entries.

• Experience in Annual Financial Reporting.

• Knowledge and experience in Expense Reporting.

• Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) processes.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

• Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.

• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Willingness to continue professional development.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
