The Role

The Vice President, Edge and Solution Assurance Operations is responsible for leading a diverse team of technology specialists dedicated to delivering and sustaining best-in-market uptime across all Lumen Edge / Hosting Infrastructure. This leader will work closely with global peers and other Lumen leaders to ensure stable, scalable and best practices across all the environment. This position will also be responsible to manage O&M costs across the environment globally. In addition, this function is responsible for Solution Assurance, a team which strengthens our partnership with all of the various Growth Teams in the product organization. This team will include Assurance Business Development focusing on the scoping and approval of the technology solution services we provide, Assurance Solution Technology focusing on the custom designed technology solutions we provide, Assurance Product Management focusing on requirements, incubation and standardization of products, and the Financial Modeling and Estimating capabilities to effectively manage associated labor for these services.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operational support of all Edge / Hosting revenue

  • Lead teams of technical professionals in service center, command center and platform engineering roles in a 24/7 mission-critical environment.

  • Responsible for design, test and standards of Network, Compute, Storage & Backup Infrastructure globally.

  • Continuous engagement and discussion with various CTO office and Lumen Network departments, to ensure consistency and uniform direction roadmap of Edge / Hosting Products.

  • Primary contact for Technology Vendor, ensuring alignment of roadmap and strategy, relevance of functions and features, holding periodic joint business and operational reviews.

  • Lead teams of highly technical professionals that perform builds, expansion and augments across Edge / Hosting Infrastructure.

  • Execute migrations of customers from old to new infrastructure were contractual engagement is not required.

  • Perform upgrades, patching and best practices in shared or customer dedicated Edge / Hosting environment.

  • Deliver periodic capacity reports across all global infrastructure and multi-year forecast on capacity growth that is in sync with revenue projections.

  • Ensure client response and support service levels are measured and meet all contractual obligations.

  • Deals with operational problems that are broad, complex and abstract, often involving company wide issues. Must develop solutions with creativity, resourcefulness, innovation, negotiating and diplomacy.

  • Sets direction and vision for various departments within Edge/ Hosting Operations. Defines objectives and priorities for the organization.

  • Align interdepartmental goals to create a superior end to end client experience.

  • Actively support pre-sales and service management initiatives to attract and retain valued clients.

  • Ensure all client contacts are conducted in a professional, positive, efficient, and quality manner.

  • Support the career development of team members through the implementation and support of development plans.

  • Through Assurance Business Development, focus on the scoping and approval of the technology solution services that Lumen provides. This includes all solutions related to IP, SDWAN, Voice and Collaboration, Hosting, Cloud, Edge and Emerging technologies.

  • Through Assurance Solution Technology, focus on the custom designed technology solutions that are made up of multiple product offerings leveraging existing and new technologies and capabilities.

  • Through Assurance Product Management, focus on the development of requirements, incubation and standardization of products as well as ensuring existing capabilities are brought to a standard that enables cohesion and service differentiation. This includes both existing and new product offerings and services that are supported across the entire Service Assurance organization.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.

  • Typically requires specialized education in a technical or legal area of study with 8-10 years related experience, including technical training and/or education or 8+ years of experience, with 3+ years of experience at the managerial level.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
