Who will you be working with?

The Senior Manager of Hardware Electronics & Design Engineering is responsible for driving engineering excellence in quality, cost, and delivery on the KinetiX (wayside monitoring) product lines within Digital Intelligence. As the leader of Hardware Electronics & Design, you will lead a team of engineers in building products for wayside-mounted predictive maintenance.

The Senior Manager of Hardware Electronics & Design Engineering will report directly to the overall engineering leader of Analytics (KinetiX) Engineering. The Senior Manager will work with other engineering disciplines to deliver holistic product solutions. The Senior Manager will work with product management to understand market needs & vision. The Senior Manager will work with project delivery teams, product owners, and architects to design electronic hardware components and mechanical parts & assemblies.

How will you make a difference?

As the Hardware Electronics & Design Engineer, you will lead, mentor, and coach a diverse group of software engineers. The Hardware Electronics & Design Engineering leader (KinetiX) is accountable for functional, business, and engineering objectives related to hardware functionality for wayside monitoring equipment. In this role, you will integrate and develop products that meet business needs, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

What are we looking for in you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in electronic hardware and mechanical design

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership/management role

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Willingness to travel (15%)

What will your typical day look like?

  • Manages the design, development, and testing of electronic hardware components and mechanical parts & assemblies

  • Oversees a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification

  • Guide design and development of electronic components, optical components, schematic creation, PCB design, mechanical parts, mechanical assemblies, and civil work coordination

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve product quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness using problem-solving techniques and root-cause analysis

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including software, machine vision algorithms, electronic hardware, and the customer website to deliver integrated complete solutions

  • Interfaces directly to manufacturing production defining Bill of Materials (BOM’s)

  • Manages budgets and resources for hardware development projects, including 3rd party utilization

  • Provides technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team

  • Ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations

  • Stays up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the rail industry, wayside measurement industry, and computer vision field
