Newtown Savings Bank Business Relationship Banker - Danbury (bilingual preferred) in Newtown, Connecticut

Location: Danbury, CT

Newtown Savings Bank is seeking an Outside business sales officer for the role of Business Relationship Banker focusing on developing new customer relationships including business and personal accounts, small business loans, and cash management to help drive core deposits. Collaborates with local branch to assist in developing long and short-term sales strategies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Expected to be out of the office at least 80%of the time by networking, establishing new relationships, and expanding on existing relationships. The primary focus is growing core business deposit accounts within our market areas.

  • Assist in developing long and short-term sales strategies to grow core deposit growth within their markets.

  • Partner with other bank employees on a regular basis to help target and close new product relationships including small business loans, cash management, mortgages, commercial loans, and Newtown Investment Solutions. Meet or exceed all budgeted sales targets.

  • Work with other bank partners including Commercial Lending Officers, Mortgage Lending Officers, and other Retail Banking employees to generate local business growth opportunities; for example, promoting the “PEP” or “Affinity” program.

  • Assist in account opening when needed and accept business loan applications within the realm of the Small Business Lending program.

  • Follows all procedures, compliances, and regulations needed to make sure all sales activities are safe and sound.

  • Must be highly energetic and creative to help assist the Bank with growing deposits. Must be passionate about sales and assist with new ideas on how we can target new business, retain our clients, and expand our existing customer’s share of wallet.

  • As a branch partner, act as a sales coach for the branches to which they are assigned. In conjunction with the Customer Experience manager, participate in supporting regular in branch sales meetings to promote cross-selling all retail products including mortgages, checking and savings accounts, credit card, and Newtown Investment Solutions.

  • Expected to be available for Saturday coverage as needed.

  • Support the Bank’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Core Values

  • Provide prompt and courteous service to all external and internal customers. Resolve customer complaints and refer to Retail Banking when needed for any difficult situations. Use courteous telephone etiquette when answering, transferring and calling customers. Overall, your service delivery and that of the branch, should always translate into a positive customer experience.

  • Meet with Regional Business Banking Manager to discuss service, sales performance and employee development. Provide feedback to branch partner for annual employee performance evaluations.

  • Maintain current knowledge of all products and services and follow all CIP, BSA, AML and OFAC requirements, as set forth in the Bank’s policies, procedures and programs.

  • Participate regularly in business networking events and community service activities. Represent the Bank as a board member for at least one community group. Promote the Bank and the Bank’s services.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree and above, or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years retail banking sales experience preferred

  • Bilingual preferred (fluent English & Spanish/Portuguese)

Communication Skills

Must be able to communicate effectively, dealing with internal and external customers, as well as current department, in person, on the telephone or in writing. Strong customer service skills required. Strong leadership and supervisory experience required. Must be able to speak one on one, or in small groups. Proficient in routine letters and customer correspondence. Bilingual skills strongly preferred (fluent English & Spanish/Portuguese).

Mathematic Skills

Ability to add and subtract, use a calculator and basic computer systems.

Problem Solving Skills

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out functions furnished in written form or oral form. Ability to perform a variety of duties without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to multi-task as well as to perform repetitive work according to set procedures, and meet deadlines. Ability to perform well under pressure.

Other Skills

Be task oriented, organized and work well in team environment. Must have the ability to listen well and follow instructions, as well as to receive guidance and supervision, and follow work rules and procedures.

Attendance

Required to work weekends and / or extended hours and regular, reliable attendance is critical.
