Sr. IT Business Systems Analyst – Warehousing & Distribution

Seeking world-class talent to join Ferguson! This role will function as a Hybrid, Sr. Business Systems Analyst to build the next generation of warehousing and distribution solutions for Ferguson. Working with a highly talented team, you'll play a key role in designing, building, and delivering technology solutions that bring business value through warehousing and distribution capabilities.

The Sr. Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the analysis, documentation, communication and approval of functional/non-functional business requirements for software applications, 3rd party vendor packages, and/or infrastructure implementations in the warehousing & distribution technology space. The role focuses on delivering business value to drive operational excellence, improve efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction through the production of quality applications and processes. Business Systems Analysts also work closely with Technical Product Owners, Software Engineers, Quality Testing Engineers, and Business Partners.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the warehousing & distribution domain, not just in business systems analysis.

This is a Hybrid role based out of *our corporate HQ3 facility in Newport News, VA , in accordance with Ferguson's Flex schedule; 3days office / 2 days remote.*

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of business processes, strategy, and relationships in order to identify and deliver solutions that provide value for the business.

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements in the warehousing & distribution space, including warehouse management solutions, automated material handling equipment, and real estate/facility management.

  • Analyze business needs to identify new processes and process improvements that will meet those needs.

  • Analyze both detailed system factors (such as input/output requirements, information and paper flow, hardware and software needs), as well as “soft" system factors (i.e., roles, responsibilities, policy, culture, etc.).

  • Evaluate the impact of potential software and process changes on the organization.

  • Develop and facilitate groups as necessary in pursuit of eliciting and defining requirements.

  • Serve as a liaison between the technical delivery of products and services and business collaborators.

  • Work closely with the Technical Product Owners, Software Engineers, Quality Testing Engineers, and Business Operations associates to ensure changes being developed meet business requirements.

  • Support Software Engineers and vendors during the development process as needed.

  • Collaborate with Quality Testing Engineers to ensure test cases adequately cover the changes developed.

  • Maintain technical documentation, including user stories, release notes, configuration and set up documents, change tickets, etc.

  • Conduct system demonstrations and training sessions as needed, as well as participate in design/review of training content.

  • Handle software releases and changes.

  • Transition application change information to Support.

  • Serve in a third level support capacity by helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues with production systems.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Science, Technology, Supply Chain or equivalent experience is required.

  • At least 5+ years domain knowledge in the warehousing and distribution space is preferred.

  • Experience with warehousing and distribution applications, including but not limited to solutions used for automated warehouse management, Automated and Non-Automated Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Voice technology, and Containerization software is preferred. Experience with any of the following specific applications is an added bonus: HighJump/Korber, AutoStore, Wynright/Fortna/Dematic Warehouse Control Systems, Lydia, and Packsize.

  • Experience working with a multi-functional team in the delivery of enterprise level solutions.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.

  • Detail oriented, proactive, creative and efficient.

  • Ability to successfully work both independently and multi-functionally in a team environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences in written and non-written format.

  • Ability to work with all levels of associates.

  • Ability to work with minimal direction in a very multifaceted environment.

Pay Range:

$6,805.95 - $11,921.25

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
