Job Summary

As the Fleet Procurement Analyst you will play a critical role in optimizing our fleet and serve as a dedicated resource to support our centralized fleet management operation of 5,500+ class 1-8 vehicles across 50 States and 1700+ locations, emphasizing safety and world-class customer service. The Fleet Procurement Analyst will be responsible for order planning, coordination, and upfitting, requiring technical knowledge and collaboration with internal partners, vendors, and OEMs. Key responsibilities include analyzing vehicle usage data, implementing efficiency strategies, and ensuring compliance with fleet programs.

This is a Hybrid role based out of Newport News, VA location, in accordance with the Ferguson Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Vehicle Order Planning and OEM Coordination:

  • Plan, coordinate and complete the procurement of Class 1-8 vehicles and trailers.

  • Manage the process of unique upfitting to meet specialized delivery needs, to include liftgates & truck mounted cranes, and graphics packages.

  • Coordinate and manage Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) allocations to optimize operational replacement needs.

  • Showcase effective influence, persuasion, and negotiation skills with OEMs and upfitters.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Understanding and prior experience in OEM procurement practices, allocation procedures, and forecasting.

  • Possess technical knowledge of vehicle and body specification development and interpretation.

  • Make key recommendations on safety measures related to fleet vehicle & upfit specifications.

  • Understanding of fleet industry sourcing principles and concepts.

Financial Analysis:

  • Apply lease vs buy accounting principles and financial analysis in fleet decision-making.

  • Conduct vendor selection and perform cost-benefit analyses.

  • Audit monthly expenses/reimbursements related to fleet leasing and remarketing programs.

Operational Expertise:

  • Demonstrate operational knowledge of fleet vehicle operations, including manufacturer specifications and upfitting practices.

  • Understand and implement decisions on fleet asset life cycles.

  • Prior experience working collaboratively with Fleet Management Companies (FMC).

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges in fleet operations.

Data Analysis and Performance Enhancement:

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.

  • Analyze vehicle utilization and implement right-sizing programs in the vehicle procurement process.

  • Apply analytical skills for forecasting, trending, asset life cycle value, and cost analysis.

  • Analyze vehicle usage data to monitor and enhance fleet efficiencies and replacements.

  • Implement strategies for right sizing and conduct regular specification reviews and changes.

  • Identify and recommend improvements for fleet efficiency and cost reduction.

  • Demonstrate an attitude for continuous improvement, staying updated on industry trends.

Collaboration and Compliance:

  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Lead collaborative specification review meetings involving drivers, managers, and executives.

  • Track inventory and regularly conduct fleet database audits, correct databases based on findings, and disseminate data as needed.

  • Act as a dedicated fleet team resource, handling calls, emails, communications, and updates.

  • Prioritize requests, manage time effectively, and stay organized in the fast-paced fleet environment.

  • Collaborative approach to work with internal customers and fleet vendors.

  • Promote driver safety and overall fleet excellence.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Vehicle Removal and Surplus Management:

  • Complete vehicle end of life removal, surplus fleet management, remarketing program management, and monthly reporting of vehicle sales.

  • Complete vehicle transfers of identified surplus fleet vehicles when required.

This role is dynamic and requires a blend of technical knowledge, critical thinking, and effective communication to ensure the fleet’s optimal performance and alignment with organizational goals.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:

  • CAFS or CAFM preferred, but not required.

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret data related to vehicle usage, specifications, cost-benefit analysis, and overall fleet performance.

  • 3+ years’ experience in procuring fleet vehicles, upfitting processes, vehicle life cycle management, and familiarity with fleet management systems preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent. Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI) and business intelligence tools is preferred and may need to be demonstrated.

Pay Range:

$3,899.70 - $7,333.70

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
