THE OPPORTUNITY

The Lead Engineer, Business Intelligence Operations will be a dynamic and visionary professional, deeply committed to optimizing the operational aspects of our Business Intelligence initiatives. This ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of thriving in an independent work environment while simultaneously managing multiple tasks, prioritizing workloads, and meeting stringent deadlines within a collaborative team setting. This individual will be critical in spearheading BI DevOps practices, providing Tier 3 support, implementing offensive governance strategies, managing/automating manual processes, and managing BI infrastructure and administration. With a focus on streamlining workflows, enhancing governance, and driving efficiency, the Operations Lead will lead the charge in evolving our BI operations to ensure seamless functioning and maximum impact across the organization. This role goes beyond technical expertise, requiring a strategic mindset to contribute to the team's overarching goals while remaining hands-on with tactical tasks that ensure the realization of the best solutions. This candidate will be accountable for driving the team's mission forward, actively participating in strategic planning, providing mentorship to team members, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage BI DevOps processes, overseeing all production releases, ensuring smooth deployments and adherence to best practices.

  • Enhance DevOps practices by evolving strategies such as Tabular Object Models (TOM) and deployment automation for Power BI/Fabric.

  • Manage team processes, identify opportunities for process improvement, and ensure efficient workflows and adherence to best practices.

  • Manage data orchestration, including semantic model refresh processes and subscriptions.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Tier 3 BI support, handling escalations, supporting defects and small enhancements, and transitioning production artifacts and processes to the Support Team.

  • Manage and improve security framework and governance tools, performing regular security audits, addressing issues, and serving as a point of contact for Security.

  • Manage production artifact documentation and certification, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Manage and support BI platform, reporting, and data migration efforts; build environments for regression testing, managing dataflows, and support strategy.

  • Automate manual processes related to data processing and data quality monitoring.

  • Manage BI infrastructure, including monitoring and managing production server utilization, Power BI Capacities and Analysis Services, and administration of Alteryx and Reporting Services servers while partnering with DBA and Cloud Engineering Teams.

  • Test and upgrade gateways, Alteryx Server, and BI administration tools regularly.

  • Configure and manage deployment pipelines, workspace, apps, and gateway sources.

  • Monitor adherence to processes and provide additional training and support as needed.

  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative development environment.

  • Maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction through the implementation, investigation, analysis, training, and relationship-building efforts.

  • Handle license administration and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Business Intelligence, Power BI, Fabric, Power Automate, and Alteryx.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

  • 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence Analytics.

  • Proven experience managing BI operations, including Power BI/Fabric administration and workflow optimization.

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.

  • Ability to understand, analyze, and articulate complex business questions through data visualization and reporting.

  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, DAX, and M languages.

  • Deep understanding of Data Visualization and storytelling using Power BI.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong team player who can take direction and lead effectively.

  • Ability to support multiple projects and ad hoc requests.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Power Automate, Alteryx, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, and cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake, GCP).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a technical leadership role supporting BI Operations.

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric.

  • Experience with Power Automate.

  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Analysis Services.

  • Experience building workflows using Alteryx.

  • Experience programming with Python.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $129,000 - $163,000. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
