Animal Care Attendant, Part-time

Department: Emergency

Location: Newmarket, ON

404 Veterinary Emergency + Referral Hospital welcomes an Animal Care Attendant to join our Emergency team. In this part-time position, you will assist our doctors and technicians team while helping to create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

This is a 24-hour department, so shifts include daytime, overnight, weekends, and holidays. Previous experience in a veterinary setting is an asset but not necessary.

Duties will include:

• Assisting the Emergency team with patient triages, exams, diagnostics

• Assisting with Emergency surgeries - patient prep and prep of the surgical suite

• Assisting the Emergency team with hospitalized patients

• Some reception duties include answering the phones and checking in/billing out emergency clients

• Providing compassionate care and comfort to all patients

Qualities we look for in a team member:

• Veterinary or small animal industry experience preferred

• Strong communication and professionalism with clients & team

• Courteous, diplomatic, and discreet in all interactions

• Positive, cooperative, and adaptable work style

• Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented

• Handles stress calmly and solves problems effectively

• Manages time well and multitasks efficiently

• Willing to learn and grow in veterinary care

• Comfortable with veterinary terminology
