Roles and Responsibilities
Demonstrates the proper use of cash register and follows all cash handling procedures.
Monitors the quality all food delivered to the line and served. Serves only high quality food, requesting new batches as needed to maintain quality.
Practices safe food handling including monitoring and recording food temperatures and taking corrective action as necessary.
Maintains a high level of sanitation throughout work area and completes daily cleaning assignments.
Understands the importance of cost control through proper portioning.
Demonstrates strong customer service skills displaying knowledge of food served, making suggestions to customers, and dealing with special requests from customers as appropriate.
Represents the department in a positive manner displaying professionalism and courtesy in all interactions.
Completes all assigned tasks including daily stocking requirements.
Actively engages in teamwork to help the department run smoothly, assisting others throughout the day.
Actively participates in cafeteria meetings and communicates customer comments/complaints to management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school graduate or equivalent preferred but not required.
Required Skills
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable the individual to perform the essential functions.
Communication: Must possess verbal and written skills to communicate effectively and courteously with a diverse group of professional and non-professional members of the health care team, patients and family/significant others.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Must know basic math and operate cash register, receive payments, make change, and maintain accurate cash deposits.
Must be responsible to maintain proper security of cash and keys to registers.
Physical Demands
Standing and walking required throughout shift. Some lifting and bending required. Exposure to hot water, steam, and sharp cutting edges (knives). Pulling and pushing motion required. Subject to deadlines and rush hour service to our customers.
Work Environment
Variable temperature changes. Ability to work with the public (customers). Use of cleaning agents.
