Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Receptionist Patient Scheduler for Rutgers University Dental Associates within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM).Under general supervision, this position carries out receptionist and telephone answering functions, clinical appointment scheduling and clinical record filing. Provides general office clerical support.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Greets patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner, and facilitates adherence to schedule of appointments.
  • Schedules/cancels patients' appointments according to the criteria of the department. Provides accurate information such as five points of ID, directions, pre-visit instructions, etc.
  • Registers patients completely and accurately, ensuring that pertinent data is obtained from patient and entered into patient management system or updated as needed.
  • Answers phone calls, takes accurate messages, and refers caller or message to appropriate party. As directed, communicates with various hospitals and physician offices regarding patient related information and documents. Provides information in accordance with patient confidentiality standards.
  • Develops and maintains good customer relations skills consistent with the department's guidelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • At least one (1) year of clerical experience, preferably involving receptionist and scheduling duties in a medical office or clinical setting, required.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Typing/word processing skills and excellent customer service skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree preferred but not required.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Standing, walking, bending, and talking. Must be able to lift office supplies up to 5 pounds.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office setting, moderate noise.
