Registered Nurse Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Coordinator (RN, VAD), Newark, NJ, Full Time, Days Req #: 0000122125 Category: ICU/Critical Care Nursing Status: Full-Time Shift: Day Facility: Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Department: Cardiac Recovery Room Location:Newark Beth Israel Medical Ctr, 201 LYONS AVENUE, NEWARK, NJ 07112-2027 Job SummaryProvide clinical expertise to all hospital departments on use of Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) care of the patient and patient management. Provide day to day patient management to ensure quality care and mentor inpatient nurses on the care of this patient population. Work with nursing education to provide annual refresher education and competence. Manage patients in the outpatient setting. Work with health care providers in patients' local community to recognize the device and how to provide basic support. Collaborate with research staff to ensure all protocols are followed. Work with Administrative Director to ensure patient care and program policies meet or exceed regulatory expectations at all times.EDUCATION- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN).REQUIREMENTS- Current New Jersey RN licensure required.- 3 years plus of recent applicable clinical experience which includes in any of the following: cardiology, cardiac surgery, LVAD/Heart transplantation or critical care.- VAD experience required.- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required via American Heart Association.- Completion of all Orientation requirements of RWJBarnabas Health.- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.Additional Information:First established in 1901, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a 665-bed quaternary care, teaching hospital that provides comprehensive health care for the region.
