Posting Summary | Under the direction of the principal investigator, the candidate will lead and execute research projects related to the pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 and tuberculosis. The focus of the research performed by the candidate will investigate the association of antibody levels and effector functions associated with SARS-Cov-2 disease severity and vaccine response. The candidate will investigate the role of cholesterol signaling in SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis to identify mechanisms associated with anti-viral activity and immunomodulation of the lung airway. Similar approach will be taken to identify pathways and/or targets associated with anti-tuberculosis activity. The candidate will prepare manuscripts for publication, take care of the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, train students and postdoc fellows, and submit research proposals and final reports for funding agencies. |

Minimum Education and Experience | Applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, at least 5 years of post-doctoral experience, excellent communication skill and a in depth knowledge of microbiology, virology, eukaryotic cell culture, macrophage infection with BSL3 pathogens, and clinical sample processing is critical. A minimum of 8 years research experience with BSL3 pathogens (tuberculosis and SARS-CoV-2) is mandatory. Experience in molecular biology techniques, paper and grant writing is preferred. |
