PYU-21st CCLC is operated by the Joseph C. Cornwall Center at Rutgers University Newark. The Cornwall Center serves as a convening hub for area stakeholders and institutions, supporting workshops, lectures, talks, and symposia. PYU - 21st CCLC serves as a bring between our host program site, Thirteenth Avenue Elementary School, and the Fairmount Heights Community.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Site Coordinator (Temporary) for the Joseph C. Cornwall Center for Metropolitan Studies. Reporting to the Project Director.The Site Coordinator will support the implantation of the Promise Youth University, Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center (PYU- 21st CCLC), and New Ark Freedom School Programs at 13th Avenue Elementary School. The Promise Youth University serves up to 130 students from grades three through eight, including students with special needs. It will consist of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) themed programs. This project was funded by New Jersey Department of Education, Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
The Site Coordinator (Temporary) duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assists the program director with coordinating the 21st Century program delivery at 13th Avenue School, managing daily operations and ensuring program delivery aligns with the approved grant applications.
  • Support the supervision of direct service staff and serve as liaison between students, teachers, partners, and school administration and support effective program delivery
  • Responsible for supporting youth development in all aspects of after school programming for all participants; assist with setup of program with the Project Director
  • Support the execution of special program events, including family engagement nights, national day for social action, and lights on after-school
  • Attend all required training, including, but not limited to New Staff orientation, Site Coordinator Orientation (freedom School), and the Ella Baker Child Policy Training
  • Work with project director to ensure program curriculums and models are implemented to fidelity
  • Maintaining accurate and timely data records, working with the Data Manager to collect and analyze data to analyze programmatic progress toward goals.

This position is contingent upon continuation of grant funding.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.

Position Salary $25.00 to $35.00 per hour

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant office, clerical, bookkeeping, library assistant or related experience depending on the duties to be performed.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in the area of education, social services, community development or a related field
  • Experience supporting onsite operations of an extended day program
  • Experience in an urban school setting
  • Have familiarity with the Newark area, schools, and students
  • Be capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Be passionate about helping children and youth
  • Familiarity with programs and providers in the City of Newark
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Be a detail-oriented self starter who is organized and enjoys working in a collaborative environment
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
