New York University Research Scientist (Alberini Lab) in New York

Research Scientist position in Neuroscience at New York University to study molecular mechanisms of memory and cognitive impairments.

Description

Applications are invited for research scientist position in the lab of Dr. Cristina Alberini, in the Center for Neural Science at New York University. The position will concentrate on two research areas: 1) the characterization of mechanisms of protein degradation via autophagy and lysosomal targeting in disorders of learning and memory using rodent models and/or iPSC-derived cell lines. These mechanisms will be investigated in neuropsychiatric disease models as their elucidation may lead to potential treatments for neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases;

2) the characterization of biological mechanisms underlying learning and memory in early development and their influence on adult behavior or predisposition to neuropsychiatric pathologies. Both in vivo rodent models and in vitro human and rodent brain cells will be employed with state-of-the-art technology.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Qualifications

PhD in Neuroscience, Biology or related field. Outstanding research competence, attested to by PhD and minimum five years experience. Exceptions to the Ph.D. education level and 5 years of experience can be made for outstanding individuals with specialized skills. Expertise in molecular mechanisms of autophagy, lysosomal targeting, vesicles trafficking in neurons and/or iPSC-derived cell lines are strongly preferred.
