Legal Fellow, United Nations

As Legal Fellow, United Nations, you are a vital part of the United Nations team and will engage in advocacy with UN diplomats and other allies for the protection of life, family, and religious freedom. In a year-long program, the Fellow will work fulltime assisting the Director of UN Advocacy and UN Counsels on preparation of UN submissions and writing position papers. The Fellow will engage directly with UN diplomats and will work with the team to build and maintain our network of UN allies.

Your Essential Responsibilities:

In this position, you will:

  • Collaborate with the team to strategically assess opportunities for intervention at the UN

  • Provide direct advocacy to UN diplomats

  • Develop new diplomatic contacts and assist with the maintenance of our allied community

  • Prepare research, position papers, UN submissions, and media pieces

  • Serve as a resource to allied NGOs

  • Travel occasionally

Education and/or Experience:

  • J.D. degree.

  • License to practice law

  • Strong computer skills

  • Languages are a plus

    Work permit for US or US citizenship required.

This position is contingent on the reopening of UNHQ to civil society representatives, who currently cannot access the premises due to the pandemic. In the event that it is not accessible by the start date, this fellowship will be converted to support another advocacy department of ADF International until admittance is possible. The fellow’s specific skills and location will be taken into account in determining the modified responsibilities.
