Kroll, LLC Vice President, Financial Instruments and Technology in New York, New York

The Kroll's Financial Instruments and Technology practice is a leading solutions provider for asset managers, hedge funds, fund administrators, banks, insurers, private equity firms, commodity trading and investment firms, and corporations.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Expertise in the valuation of CLOs and other structured securities, valuation theory, methodologies, applications, and fundamentals of constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models, including using DCF & market approaches, option models, monte-carlo, and other structured investment models
  • Managing CLO client engagements from day-to-day interaction with the client through to staffing and managing the resources and work plan through to timely completion
  • Individuals will be assigned a wide variety of projects and given as much responsibility as their experience and capabilities permit
  • Lead CLO client engagements and work with more junior team members to execute CLO valuation and analytics projects including client deal team interviewing, managing engagement economics, team management, developing and reviewing models, report writing, research and tracking market and industry information
  • Write technical reports, client-focused marketing materials, and presentations.
  • Model building and reviewing - DCF models, Structured Products (waterfall) models, fixed income credit models, and alternative asset valuation models
  • Operational relationship management with client, building long-term client relationships through exceptional client service including a deep understanding of the client and their needs, exceptional responsiveness, and the delivery of the highest quality service and work product
  • Client Interviewing - gathering data pertinent to the engagement
  • Developing deep technical strength in the valuation of alternative assets, serving as a firm resource for that expertise and sharing that knowledge through training and mentoring.
  • Field client questions, auditor questions, and investor questions. Articulate and defend a modelling approach under scrutiny.


Essential traits:
  • 4 years of relevant work experience in financial services (experience in capital markets, asset management or rating agencies is a plus)
  • Structured products or credit analysis experience, in particular CLOs and leveraged loans. Proficiency with Intex or other cash flow modeling tools
  • Bachelors, in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative discipline. Master's degree or further accreditation (e.g., CFA) is beneficial
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and detail oriented
  • A fundamental understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and applications with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats, and limitations
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including managing and developing client relationships as well as mentoring and developing staff
  • Ability to master new tasks quickly and complete tasks without much or no supervision
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, and manage multiple assignments in a team environment and balance long-term development priorities with short-term client deliverables
  • Experience working with diverse teams
