Background

This is a new and pivotal role in a re-engineered practice that recognizes data at the heart of the ANA Growth Agenda and most strategic priorities for marketers. Data is projected to be the central ingredient for brand growth by 2030, accelerating change and impacting and transforming the way we do marketing and spurred by this, marketers are estimated to spend around $35 billion on data, analytics and privacy in 2024 alone. With these realities, it is imperative for marketers to stay ahead of the data curve, anticipate new trends, and adapt to marketing ecosystem alterations to harness data to drive business results.

Position Summary

The ANA Data Excellence & Privacy practice focuses on helping marketers navigate and get in front of inevitable changes in the data space to drive growth. The Vice President, Data Excellence & Privacy will ensure the practice delivers on this objective by driving data excellence across the ANA and its members, aligning to the Growth Agenda and marketers’ interests. This position reports to the SVP of Data Excellence & Privacy, and will work closely with the leaders of ANA’s other data-centric practices of Privacy, MarTech, and Measurement for connectivity and scaling of leadership initiatives, products and services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of Position

  • Leadership to navigate marketers’ data challenges and opportunities. This experienced, well-connected practitioner will help to ensure the ANA’s Data Excellence & Privacy practice is an indispensable partner for marketers, as a go-to information and solution provider for all things data, staying atop developments in data and privacy to keep marketers ahead of evolutions and priorities such as clean room best practices, post-cookie solutions, supply chain transparency and artificial intelligence in order to effectively manage changes. The VP will drive industry leadership through work with committees and Growth Agenda-surfaced data issues and challenges that benefit from ANA leadership representing the voice of the marketer.

  • Products, services, programming and community building. Contribute and lead the development and execution of a core set of assets, solutions, and products intended specifically for CMOs and client-side data leaders. This includes programming informative, actionable content that inspires and engages members within forums where they share, learn, grow, network, and prosper together. Examples include but not limited to forums spanning industry conferences (https://www.ana.net/content/show/id/ms-mdt-sep23) , committees, (https://www.ana.net/committee/profile/id/ANALYTICS) and webinars (https://www.ana.net/webinars/show/id/COMWWP-230907) that tackle top data issues that marketers face and drive a broader industry agenda. Responsibilities also include creating new products and tools such as playbooks, reports, whitepapers and frameworks to help marketers successfully manage their data, compliance and privacy imperatives while driving growth for their organizations as well as socialize ANA’s existing, industry-leading data products to a broader ANA-member audience, including participating in existing initiatives such as the Response Rate Report, Postal Advisory Council, and Global DMA participation.

  • Serving as a senior leader within an integrated practice, with cross-practice connectivity and matrixed accountability. This includes working with SVP of Data Excellence & Privacy on integration efforts and supporting ANA Privacy, Measurement for Marketers, and MarTech/Futures practice areas to drive forward a data agenda and resources that address disruptions, advances marketer growth, and prioritizes privacy.

    Attributes/Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required along with 10+ years of senior-level experience from within a marketer, agency or data solutions provider. 

  • Proven, deep subject matter expertise in data-driven marketing and data supply chain, including first-party data, third-party data, programmatic digital, CRM, and data technology.

  • Ability to interact with executives and data and analytics professionals from member organizations and key data partners

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to drive key strategic initiatives. Getting things done in an environment of change is a continuously present imperative

  • Excellent communications skills – must be able to write and present effectively; adjust to fit the audience and the message; strong ability to get a message across and be persuasive

  • Curious, passionate, start-up sense of urgency and entrepreneurial mindset; not afraid to take risks and try new things, and always looking for new ways to expand your knowledge and experience

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent project demands with quick turnaround times and to work collaboratively with a team, as well as independently and with minimal supervision

  • Relationship builder – the position provides opportunity to work with ANA members at hundreds of companies

  • Able to fluidly work across teams and industry activities

    Salary and Total Rewards Package

    Starting pay range:  $135,000 - $145,000, based on relevant experience and qualifications.
