WSP USA Structural BIM Manager in New York, New York
This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Structural BIM Manager for our New York, New York office location. Be involved in projects with our Buildings Structures Division and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. In this role, you will provide high-level technical support and oversight to ensure the accuracy and quality of structural designs and specifications across complex construction projects. This position will focus on structural aspects within multi-site/phase projects, ensuring deliverables reflect precise data, modeling standards, and coordination with project leadership. You will ensure quality in structural design deliverables, such as technical memoranda, Contract Documents, and models, while meeting industry standards for functionality and accuracy.
Your Impact
Supervise and oversee the integration of structural elements, data, blueprints, and technical drawings to support development of contract deliverables via drafting and design for single, multi-phase, or multi-site structural projects.
Coordinate 3D BIM and CADD work products, working closely with engineers and project managers to resolve design details and ensure precision on complex structural projects.
Oversee quality control standards and procedures for structural CADD/3D work, including measurements, documentation, and data portrayal.
Perform professional drafting and design support, ensuring structural characteristics align with project goals and validating work product accuracy.
Provide technical guidance on structural design standards, codes, specifications, and documentation to ensure fit, form, function, and constructability.
Act as a lead consultant regarding progress and issue resolution; may serve as the primary Structural Drafting/Design Support resource for project teams.
Monitor calculations, structural design adjustments, change orders, and ensure contract, specification, and documentation alignment.
Oversee cross-functional teams in executing structural project work, tracking budgets, and monitoring tasks.
Maintain compliance with structural and drafting guidelines, including data management for structural support documents.
Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions, and support client-facing activities, including proposals and business development.
Stay current in the latest drafting and design practices, methods, and technologies relevant to structural projects.
Exercise ethical decision-making with respect to resources and uphold WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline (or equivalent experience.)
7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in structural drafting, BIM, or design support within complex projects.
Experience with both public and private sector structural work (e.g., state, municipal, utility, and private development).
Experience supporting project managers or serving as a deputy project manager on structural projects.
Advanced proficiency in structural drafting and design support principles, practices, and methods.
Advanced knowledge of structural codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Strong experience with technical computations, structural calculations, and interpreting plans to meet regulatory standards.
Proficiency in client and agency coordination, as well as communication with technical staff.
Analytical mindset with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and communicate with clarity and professionalism.
Advanced technical writing skills and proficiency in office software, technology, and technical tools.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record in QA/QC.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.
Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek to meet project requirements.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree is preferred.

Expected Salary: $114,000- $153,900
