About the Department

The Strategic Partnerships team, part of the Strategic Partnerships and Runner Products Department, is responsible for generating and garnering corporate revenue, value and promotion for NYRR. The team seeks to match the needs of NYRR with that of partners’ and their various objectives. The partner portfolio is comprised of more than 20 brands including TCS, New Balance, United Airlines, Mastercard, Gatorade Endurance and Michelob Ultra.

About the Position

The Strategic Partnerships Coordinator will support corporate and charity partner relations, race sponsorship execution, and seasonal department initiatives. The position of Coordinator, Strategic Partnerships reports to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and assists in driving awareness for partner objectives in all aspects of planning. The Coordinator assists in all day-to-day operations of the department including fulfilling partner deliverables, budget tracking, credentialing, hospitality, race entry management and project recapping.

The Coordinator will work collaboratively with other departments in the organization and requires multi-tasking, good and decisive judgment, and a high level of professionalism. Key responsibilities are built upon the intersection of client strategy, NYRR brand strategy, and top-notch client service in a high-paced, fluid environment.

The position requires some work on evenings and weekends, to supervise partner-sponsored programs at the NYRR RUNCenter featuring the New Balance Run Hub and NYRR races. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, has experience executing sponsorships/live events, understands the principles of client service, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):

  • Support partner relations, managing variety of administrative tasks including: status call agendas, project plans, meeting notes and recaps

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional departments to ensure sponsorship deal points are executed on time

  • Showcase effective decision-making, critical thinking and proactivity to meet deadlines

  • Showcase creativity and innovation in problem solving when issues or opportunities arise

  • Manage professional communication with partners and vendors

  • Attend partner events and sponsored races, oversee execution, and represent NYRR with partners Manage partner entries and invitation codes

  • Provide general support to Strategic Partnerships team for seasonal projects throughout the year

  • Adapt to feedback and instruction and apply learning to projects

    Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • Experience executing special/live events

  • Proven experience in project management (planning, execution, and reporting)

  • Previous exposure to quantitative and qualitative research - not in leading, but knows what they are, and how they work

  • Project ownership

  • CRM experience is beneficial

Education & Certifications:

  • Two or four-year degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field, or two years of related experience preferred

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong project management skills focused on organization, time management, and planning

  • Ability to think strategically across multiple relationships and balance organizational and partner objectives

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced, challenging environment 

  • Confidence to ask questions, follow up in a timely fashion, and be proactive in taking initiative 

  • Exhibit solution-oriented thinking, as well as excellent problem solving, innovation, and interpersonal skills

  • Collaboration skills 

  • Energetic and positive attitude 

  • Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed

  • Strong Microsoft office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) required

  • Passion for NYRR’s mission

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors for long-periods of time (standing and/or sitting)

Salary: $50K

NYRR requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
