The Columbia University Division of General Medicine is seeking a full-time Staff Associate II to support NIH-funded research in cardiovascular disease (e.g., lipid and blood pressure control) health economics. The candidate will be responsible for performing economic analyses using the well-established Cardiovascular Disease Policy Model, a computer simulation model of cardiovascular disease in the U.S. population. The candidate will also perform analyses of cohort studies, national surveys, electronic health records, and claims data to support analyses using the simulation model.
Responsibilities
- Programming and analysis using the Cardiovascular Disease Policy Model
- Perform statistical analysis in other datasets to support the simulation model
- Review and summarize relevant scientific literature
- Assist in writing abstracts and manuscripts
- Create presentations of results and supporting material for scholarly presentations, papers, grant proposals and ongoing research meetings
- Oversee analysis by Masters of Public Health students using the Cardiovascular Disease Policy Model
Minimum Degree Required
Bachelor's degree in Health Economics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or Public Health or equivalent in education/training, and 4 years of experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with decision analytic and statistical programming software (TreeAge, R, Stata, and Excel)
- Familiarity with health economics and population research methods (e.g., decision analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, epidemiology, biostatistics)
- Familiarity with basic concepts of cardiovascular disease
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks on time
- Team player with ability to work well with all levels of personnel
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Health Economics and Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or Public Health or equivalent in education/training and experience; or a Master's degree plus at least two years of related experience
