Robert Half Staff Accountant in New York, New York
Description Robert Half has partnered with an esteemed organization to find a Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. Your responsibilities as Staff Accountant will include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You'll also be participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. An involved position, you will be producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The organization offering this multi-faceted short-term contract / temporary opportunity is based in the New York, New York region, and provides a terrific work environment where effort is rewarded.
Your responsibilities
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation Requirements - Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
1+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Proficient in ERP systems
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Solid understanding of Fixed Asset Accounting
Command of Fixed Asset Depreciation
Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel
SAP experience
Proficiency in financial reporting
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
