Job Location: 100 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10013Note: Company “Hybrid” work attendance policy: In-office work attendance required at the aforementioned office address for collaboration days based on each team’s requirement; telecommuting/working from home is permissible for remainder of the same month.Duties: Engineer and maintain a distributed storage software system that supports petabyte-level data for various use cases. Design, engineer, and implement new software features and solutions for the storage system to meet the industry standard. Integrate metrics collection, querying, and alerting by using open-source software tools to provide first-class observability for the storage system. Analyze performance of the storage system. Identify and implement optimizations. Improve reliability, scalability, and performance of the storage system. Operate the software system to ensure it meets user expectations and Service Level Objectives (SLO). Engineer and enhance software tooling to simplify/streamline operations, including deployment, testing, and performance benchmarking. Support storage system users by debugging and troubleshooting issues in the software system production environment.Minimum education required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.Skills required: Must have knowledge of the following software skills and technologies: Java for developing, testing, and troubleshooting software code; algorithms and data structures applications in software implementation; relational database design and data query language (SQL); programmatically processing (reading/writing) data from relational databases; software development lifecycle tools including version control (Git), unit testing, and CI/CD software; third-party software integration in applications for observability and metrics collection; Python scripting in Linux; engineering fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable software solutions in multi-tenant environments; API design and implementation; and gRPC or REST on HTTP. Must also pass company’s required skills assessment.Base salary: The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $325,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental, and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation.
