Sales Prod Eng & Ops (SPEO) org is looking for a talented Software Development Manager to help us build custom software solutions across our platform.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will manage and mentor a high performing team of engineers, fostering a collaborative environment, conducting performance reviews, and promoting professional growth.

  • You will define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for our sales technology products and services, while collaborating with internal and cross-functional teams to align on requirements and priorities.

  • You will review architecture design and overseeing software development of highly scalable systems.

  • You will communicate technical concepts, project status, and risk assessments to stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical.

  • You will own end to end software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and promote continuous innovation to enhance the security, performance, and scalability of our cloud-based solutions.

A day in the life

As the manager of the team you own vision and mission of the team. You will attend daily team stand ups, weekly operational call hand-offs or other required meet with stakeholders regarding short-term/long-term projects. You will weekly meet with your team to discuss their career goals, and passions. You will lead operational excellence initiatives. You will partner with your Sr. SDEs and other tenured engineers to build and design architectures that will scale for the long term. You will provide guidance to senior leaders on long-term technical strategies and approaches to solving problems within your domain.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

  • Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
