ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides support to the safety program to strengthen safety advocacy and assure environmental, health and safety compliance across the site to which they are assigned. Experience in auditing and performing tasks associated with an occupational safety program is required. Outstanding communication and writing skills are required; experience self-motivating within an existing framework as well as project management is extremely helpful. The role is highly collaborative in nature offering support to multiple work groups.

  1. Serves as a key point of client contact to ensure the delivery of high-quality customer service for assigned account; evaluates service quality and initiates any necessary corrective action in a timely manner.

  2. Meets regularly with client representatives for status updates; addresses any actual or potential problems; assists line management in negotiation of client contract; provides support during client start-up; supports security planning, assessments, and surveys; reviews and updates post orders.

  3. Oversees, coordinates with line management, and participates in the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, development and retention of high caliber staff; acts to ensure that each staff member is treated with dignity and respect; plans, assigns, and directs work; coach employees and carries out disciplinary actions, as necessary.

  4. Assists in development and administration of budget in relation to assigned account.

  5. Maintains a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; acts to ensure that staff members understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

  6. Within scope of client contract and assigned duties, authorizes appropriate expenditures including equipment, supplies, and vehicles; acts to ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and administers driver training; acts to ensure that there is an adequate inventory of uniforms, radios, and other supplies and equipment; maintains and submits payroll records and other associate and business information.

  7. Prepares and coordinates staffing schedules for account, in collaboration with line management as necessary; acts to ensure that scheduling is handled effectively to meet client requirements while controlling labour costs.

  8. Reviews Security Officer site reports to verify post orders and client directives have been satisfactorily followed; personally, inspects all posts as part the evaluation of security staff.

  9. Provides input to company initiatives; promptly assists in the resolution of legal, financial, human resources, and administrative issues.

  10. Performs tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for assigned account.

  11. Maintains site metrics.

  12. Supports with regulatory documentation.

  13. Responses and completes assigned task in a timely manner.

  14. Performs safety audits.

  15. Conducts inspections of site safety equipment.

  16. Conducts safety and incident investigations.

  17. Coordinates the Site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and assist with drills.

  18. Aids in pandemic response.

  19. Schedules and facilitates a variety of meetings and webinars to disseminate gathered information.

  20. Maintains a client service approach to problem solving and work with peers, client, and other stakeholders to find solutions to health and safety concerns.

  21. Serve as the Site Safety Officer for the office, with a minimum of 20% role dedicated to associated safety elements including but not limited to:

  22. Ergonomics training

  23. First aid training

  24. OSHA training

  25. Safety audits

  26. Risk assessments

  27. After action reviews

  28. Fire warden training

  29. Incorporation of safety-minded specific patrols into regular routines

  30. Adoption a safety-mindset matrix on top of the traditional security roles

  31. Other tasks deemed important by the client may be assigned and are part of the job requirements.

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related experience, or an an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company. Minimum 2 years of experience in retail preferred.

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing ):

  • If required for assigned accounts, must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.

  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned accounts.

  • Knowledge of security and safety operations and procedures.

  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.

  • Skill in staff supervision, including assigning work and providing training and discipline.

  • Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.

  • Understanding of a variety of security and safety devices and controls.

  • Ability to track and maintain schedule assignments.

  • Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.

  • Knowledge of business operations management and human resources administration.

  • Use of personal computer and spreadsheet software.

  • Ability to synthesize business/financial data and develop recommendations.

  • Planning, organizing and leadership skills.
