Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Campus Management Section (CMS) plays a critical role in keeping Department Facilities operating safely for staff and visitors as it oversees the maintenance for over 250 Department Facilities Citywide. CMS manages multiple facility renovations that support Department initiatives and unit relocations. CMS is comprised of uniform, civilian trades, professional and administrative staff.

The Campus Management Section seeks a qualified Sheet Metal Worker to assist with Department operations.

The selected Sheet Metal Worker will be responsible for designing, fabricating, laying out, shaping form, reverting, spot welding solder, sweat tin and installing ductwork for supply and return lines. In addition, the Sheet Metal Worker will be responsible for testing and balancing to correcting airflow according to balance reports Citywide.

HOURS/ SHIFT:

Monday-Friday; 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Qualifications

  1. Five years of full-time experience as a Sheet Metal Worker; or

  2. Three years of such experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient helper or apprentice experience, or relevant education acquired in an approved trade, technical, or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of helper or apprenticeship experience, or relevant education.
