Fedcap Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in New York, New York

JOB SUMMARY

Supervises the Vocational Field Counseling staff and provides oversight for individuals with disabilities employed in Fedcap janitorial and document management positions. Ensures all Fedcap placements meet SourceAmerica/NYSID/ACCSES NJ disability documentation requirements. Responsible for audit preparation to ensure quality of services and meet regulatory standards.

Wage/Salary: $70k

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees the coordination of referring appropriate, qualified Fedcap school students for job openings in Fedcap Employment Programs. Conducts community outreach to provide qualified candidates for Fedcap jobs. Ensures that new client-workers in Fedcap Employment Programs have appropriate disability documentation.

  • Provides supervision to Vocational Field Counselors, individually and in group supervision, ensuring the provision of clinical services that meet quality standards. Supervision focuses on individual worker behaviors/issues at the worksite and completing/receiving adequate documentation for case files.

  • Review all case files to ensure that case notes, service plans, and reports prepared by staff are written according to the requirements of SourceAmercia/NYSID/ACCSES NJ requirements and are complete, accurate, and timely.

  • Responsible for audit preparation to ensure quality of services and meet regulatory standards.

  • Manages a client caseload.

  • Assists with consumer outreach and department tours as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, and Human Services.

  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or qualifications for CRC and in the process of attainment of credential.

  • Two (2) years of related experience in a Vocational Rehabilitation setting. Prior supervisory experience is a plus or an equivalent combination of related education and experience within 1 year.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in working with individuals with various disabilities and barriers to employment.

  • Knowledge of the Vocational Rehabilitation process.

  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written), ability to meet deadlines, and multi-task.

  • Knowledge of and ability to follow agency policies and procedures.

  • Ability to define assignments or projects clearly; make recommendations and decisions.

  • Ability to train and provide clinical supervision to staff. Knowledge of ethical standards.

  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
