JOB DUTIES:Research and evaluate prospective Strategies, General Partners and Funds for the Private Debt Fund of funds (FoF) portfolio with a focus on high quality and income yielding to contribute to the improvement of the company’s risk-return profile. Design and execute the strategic diversified investment plan. Lead the enhancement of team’s capability.•Lead the team in enhancing the Private Debt Investment platform and instilling investment philosophy in collaboration with Alternative Head in NLGIA and Nippon Life Group’s Tokyo Offices. Design and execute the strategic diversified investment plan to maximize the risk adjusted return for investors.•Through the manager’s search and selection process, screen, select and develop new investment opportunities, while respecting and obtaining the consent of team members to proceed with the investment.•Build and expand relationships with existing and prospective investment managers.•Lead NLGIA’s qualified due diligence (Investment Due Diligence (IDD) and Operational Due Diligence (ODD)). Assess asset quality and viability with involvement of junior members, conduct comprehensive due diligence and liaise with legal & tax counsel to negotiate protective and preferential terms.•Formulate investment proposal on Private Debt Funds with IDD and ODD report, including quality check of team members’ due diligence and proposal. Advise investors in their preferred language (either English or Japanese) and respond to related concerns. •Develop investment policies, procedures and granular monitoring methodologies to maximize the risk adjusted return for investors (Nippon Life Insurance (NLI) and NAM Tokyo, Taiju Life, etc). Implement advanced risk management in compliance with investor’s required levels throughout all stages of investment process.•Actively encourage the promotion of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investment and implement responsible investment through enhancing ESG scoring. •Coordinate with external parties in the negotiation and execution of agreements and documents related to Private debt investments.•Lead post-investment monitoring of funds, including periodic meetings with investment managers and general partners, annual meeting attendance and office visits, etc. •Prepare regular reporting package for investors including Quarterly Report in an efficient manner.•Participate and present in the Quarterly Report meeting for Private Debt fund, which includes members from Nippon Life Group’s Tokyo Offices.•Identify risk factors that may impact FoF performance for immediate reporting to Alternative Head and senior members in NLGIA and investors. Present quarterly performance report and market view updates to Investment Committee Members after compiling task assignments to the junior members in the team.•Lead the cash flow management and other operational issues of private debt funds with involvement of Junior members. •Share information on Private Debt industry with Senior members in NLGIA. •Communicate with and participate in key industry groups (GP-LP (General Partners-Limited Partners) groups in Private Equity and Private Debt, PRI and etc.) to remain apprised of real-time events, capital market trends and transactions. Liaise with industry sources and Private Debt asset management business partners to build relationships and facilitate access to deals and information. •Research and investigate matters as required by Nippon Life Group’s Tokyo Offices. Respond to such matters in either or both Japanese and English, ensuring the Nippon Life Group’s Tokyo Office has an accurate and thorough understanding of the situation. •Domestic & International Travel required - 5 times per year. JOB REQUIREMENTS:Primary Requirements •Bachelor’s degree in any field •10 years of progressive experience in job offered or related: 10 years of experience must include private debt/private credit investments, corporate loan analysis, or private debt fund investment •Ability to read, write, and speak Japanese •Domestic & International Travel required - 5 times per year. Minimum Salary: 292,427 Maximum Salary: 300,000 Salary Unit: Yearly
