The anticipated salary range for this role is between $114,000.00 and $189,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

SMBC America’s Division is searching for an Senior Business Analyst in the Middle Office Technology group within Capital Markets. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technology Business Analyst to work with a wide range of business functions including Credit Risk, Market Risk, Capital initiatives and Product Control.

The ideal candidate should have broad product knowledge of Derivatives and Securities. Specialization can be for Credit Risk, Market Risk or Regulatory Capital domains. The candidate must be able to work well with business stakeholders, developers, and management.

Role Objectives

  • Meets key stakeholders and Senior Management to understand and document business needs. Determine Project scope and obtain sponsor approval

  • Meets with business stakeholders to gather requirements including facilitating discussions and necessary follow-ups to close all outstanding questions and concerns.

  • Liaison with in-house development team to design & build solutions

  • Work with users to document UAT test plans. Manages UAT and actively participates in hands on testing. Track defects & resolutions. Report on UAT metrics

  • Facilitates resolution and communication of cross organization decisions, risks, issues and works with respective teams to analyze issues and drive them to resolution

  • Gathers and document functional requirements producing detailed functional specifications.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of professional experience in bank Capital Markets, with progressive experience as a business analyst leading and completing middle office projects

  • Strong working knowledge of Derivatives (e.g., Interest Rate, Credit, FX) and Exchange Traded Products (e.g., Options, Futures)

  • Strong Interest Rate or Fixed Income knowledge preferred

  • Experience with one or more of the following areas (Credit Risk, Market Risk and Capital Requirements preferred)

  • Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR), simulation model and credit exposure (PFE, MPE, EPE)

  • Market Risk, VaR, risk limits

  • Derivative pricing and risk sensitivities

  • Margin, collateral, central clearing counterparty (CCP), stress test, back testing

  • XVA / CVA desk workflow

  • RWA capital requirements (e.g. CFTC Swap Dealer Capital Rules, FRTB)

  • PnL attributions and product control function

  • Ability to work with developers effectively, serving as a connection between business requirements and technical implementation. Previous software development background is ideal but not required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with business users, technology members and management

  • Attention to details and able to perform data analysis and validation for product attributes, risks and valuations

  • Bachelor's degree. Computer Science or Information Systems preferred
