Global Infrastructure Enterprise Observability aims to enable internal applications to leverage best in class observability solutions to reduce MTTD and MTTR with logs/traces/metrics, data-driven business processes, architecture simplification, and cost transparency.

A successful Technical Program Manager knows that delivering on that promise takes foresight, planning and agility. Our Technical Program Managers have the passion and energy to work in a startup-like, entrepreneurial, and fast paced environment, and they have the willingness, energy and technical ability to roll up their sleeves and work directly with the solutions. The ideal candidate for this role has the maturity, confidence, and experience to manage and collaborate with a multitude of partners, and the ability to influence and communicate across multiple stakeholders and levels of leadership, speaking at the appropriate level of detail to audiences ranging from business executives to technology delivery teams.

If you have proficiency and experience with developing program strategies while owning and leading multiple, simultaneous engagements with key stakeholders, you'll find a fit with our Enterprise Observability team responsible for developing and maintaining Observability solutions to serve Amex Applications to provide the correct inputs for data-driven assessments of workload placement benefits, risks, and costs. Here’s just some of what you’ll do:

  • Develop strong customer relationships that enable the Enterprise Observability team to become a trusted advisor to our stakeholders and business partners

  • Gather functional and business requirements from stakeholders and translate into actionable deliverables by working with engineers, architects,1 and leaders

  • Ensure ongoing identification and completion of deliverables, managing schedules, meeting milestones, and ensuring technical success.

  • Ensure accurate reflection of project/program budgets, forecasts and actuals with related tools

  • Monitor and communicate the progress of solution delivery and ensure timely and effective communication of its status in terms of cost, forecast, schedule and assessment of risks/issues

  • Negotiate and influence cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate resourcing levels are engaged and maintained throughout the execution of the plan

  • Anticipate delivery risks and issues and ensure that appropriate mitigation planning is in place

  • Ensure effective usage of change control procedures and processes to retain control of scope, schedule and cost

  • Steer technical program conversations (e.g., relating to architectural approach and system design) and articulates solutions; co-develops and documents solution

  • Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to build implementation roadmaps

  • Provide and consolidate inputs for leadership updates; facilitate meetings with leadership on delivery status and key decisions

Are you up for the challenge? Here’s what you should have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; advanced degree and/or valid industry certifications preferred

  • Extensive experience in a team leadership role, directly interfacing with executive customers and leading team members in concurrent workstreams to deliver specific outputs of value to customers

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and consultative problem-solving skills, with a strong business and financial aptitude

  • Experience with ServiceNow and other IT Asset Management tools

  • Strong analytical skills with validated ability to understand and document business data requirements

  • Operational knowledge of IT infrastructure domains including data centers, network / communications, server utilization, virtual environments, storage, public and private cloud usage and billing, application development and maintenance

  • Technical application implementation experience especially related to knowledge and application of relational database concepts, working with large data sets and quickly detecting / resolving data-related issues, and leading iterative technical design activities.

  • Customer-focused attitude - a real customer advocate that can translate customer needs and strategies into the reporting, analytics, data and stakeholder management necessary to drive success

  • Ability to lead customer training, design and knowledge transfer sessions.

  • Strong skills in data analysis/manipulation

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
