ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Site Civil Engineer/Project Manager- Land Development | Hybrid | New York Metro

VHB's growing Northeast region is seeking an experienced Senior Site Civil Engineer/Project Manager to support our Land Development practice for New York metro (New York City, Long Island, lower Hudson Valley, and New Jersey). Our past and present clients include commercial, office, residential, industrial, and hospitality developers; higher education, healthcare, and K through 12 Institutional entities to municipal, local government and federal agencies.

Responsibilities

    Develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale mixed-use developments, industrial, commercial, office, institutional, healthcare and residential
  • Support preparation of land development design and permitting documents
  • Assist with project financial performance and client relations
  • Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designed
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues with them
  • Manage work and development of junior-level staff
  • Manage significant tasks on small, medium, or large projects
  • Assist in the development of new project opportunities and manage proposal submissions
  • Technical and design report writing
  • Assist in the preparation of permitting, design, and construction documents

Skills and Abilities

  • Solid understanding of the typical land entitlement process including permitting at the local and state level preferred
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design preferred
  • Ability to think critically and creatively in a team-focused environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience preparing graphics and maps
  • Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, HydroCAD, and StormCAD
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study required
  • Master's degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • 8-11 years of professional site/civil design engineering experience required
  • 11-15 years of site/civil design experience preferred
  • AutoCAD proficiency required
  • Civil 3D and MicroStation preferred
  • PE license required

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $120,000-175,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
