Senior Product Director: Requirements and Risk Ecosystem
Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology.
We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry. Do you dream of well-designed and intuitive products and customer experiences? Do you want to be the one who introduces change to help tens of millions of customers make smarter financial choices? Do you want to change the way people manage their money? If you answered yes to all of these questions, then product management at Capital One may be a fit for you.
The Card Product team is recruiting a Product Leader to help power a modernization journey centered on unleashing a new era of customer experience innovations at Capital One. This includes building our destination-state requirements as well as our risk capabilities and modern platforms - which we anticipate will not only scale, but extend to transform requirements and risk management more broadly in the Card business.
This Product Leader must have some experience building platforms from the ground up and leading teams through technology transformation. You have data expertise, platform technology knowledge, and expertise on cross-functional partnership. Qualified candidates will have an established record of strategic thought and people leadership. They will have demonstrated their ability to identify and unlock areas of leverage, create stakeholder buy-in and alignment on a shared agenda, and creatively problem solve through impediments to progress.
This Senior Director role is ideal for a leader with a track record for re-imagining, and building from the ground-up platforms/capabilities that operate at massive scale with no margin for error in execution.
Our high-level vision for this role is that the leader will partner with Tech to design, build, and implement an integrated set of platforms that enable the authoring and implementation of requirements as well as the configuration and management of automated, detective controls to ensure our platforms are executing flawlessly:
Requirements Governance SOR: A scalable system of record for intent owners and partners (BAs, Product Owners, Risk Managers, Legal and Compliance advisors) to use to author standardized requirements (business, regulatory, product, non-functional, + more) for how our platforms execute; linking those requirements to business processes, as well as the control suite. The platform will require both UI as well as back-end design to integrate with other Capital One Platforms.
Automated Compliance Engine: Design and deliver an automated compliance engine that can systematically store and retrieve data at scale, in a real time environment, using architecture and standardized data patterns. We are envisioning this as a major leap forward in our risk management capabilities within Card and Capital One.
What "great" looks like for this Product Leader is to provide visionary, yet practical leadership to balance delivering value along the way through our programs without losing sight of the opportunity to re-imagine a large part of how we manage risk by leveraging technology. This role will be an integral product leadership role in our broader modernization program.
We expect the leader to build (from the ground up) and maintain a highly engaged, high-performing product team (expect a team of 3-5 directs), as well as play a horizontal connective role to elevate the culture, talent, operating rhythms, and inclusivity in the broader Product organization.
We want you if you are:

Communicator & Influencer. You're comfortable influencing a group of executives as well as communicating your product vision clearly to your associates and partners. You can be open to different communication styles and listen carefully to diverse sets of ideas.
Do-er. You're biased toward action, and are willing to make commitments and trade-offs with other leaders to remove impediments for your team; you are a leader obsessed with delivering valuable in an iterative way focusing in minimum viable product
Passionate & Customer Focus. You care about growing others and bringing them together around what's possible. You have a desire and ability to connect with our external or internal customers to fully understand their needs and build long lasting relationships.
Learner. You have an appetite to learn new things or new technologies all while exhibiting humbleness when exploring unknown technologies; you will seek for internal solutions before building new
