SALARY RANGE : $115,107-$124,724

HAY POINTS : 7 02

DEPT/DIV : Controller’s Office, A/R and Project Accounting

SUPERVISOR : D eputy Director – Accounts Receivable Processing and Reconciliation

LOCATION : 2 Broadway/420 Lexington Avenue

HOURS OF WORK : 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (8 hours/day)

DEADLINE : Open until filled

This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

SUMMARY :

Direct and manage the financial processes related to the Accounts Receivable and Collection functions and processes for MTA Headquarters. Working in partnership with the Deputy Director and Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable, this position will coordinate and assist with the implementation of a Work Order System for MTA Headquarters to invoice, bill, and collect billback reimbursable projects and third-party invoices. This position also supports the accounts receivable functions at all MTA agencies as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Responsible for discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review performance of staff. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential.

  • Direct and oversee month-end close. Directing the opening and closing of all job numbers and the operating billing requests.

  • Manage general ledger activities, journal entry adjustments, account analysis, and account distribution requests related to A/R assigned accounts.

  • Collections and Customer Inquiry management. Review, substantiate and gather all supporting documents for discussion with Senior Management as required.

  • Create and document process and procedures for Accounts Receivable activities which includes coordination with various internal and external departments.

  • Support the Deputy Director in reporting, reviewing, and analyzing day-to-day processes and requests throughout the Accounts Receivable group.

  • Participation on special projects within the Controller’s Group.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must have knowledge of Financial Systems preferably PeopleSoft.

  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Application/Excel.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

    Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business , Accounting or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited college may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum 7 years related experience.

  • Experience with Peoplesoft Finance Modules

  • Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership abilities.

    Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • At least 3 years in a managerial and/or leadership role.

  • Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body.

  • Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.
