Senior Engineer with Spotify USA, Inc. 4 World Trade Center 150 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007.*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed anywhere within the Eastern Time Zone region of the U.S.Job Duties: Build and maintain large-scale data processing infrastructure tools and libraries that enable data practitioners to develop data pipelines that run on the Google Cloud Platform. Contribute and engage with the Spotify open-source community by understanding external users and building solutions for the highly adopted data processing library Scio. Research and implement technological improvements in job optimization, performance, reliability and developer experience for data processing products and systems. Work in cross-functional agile teams to continuously develop and iterate on solutions while partnering with engineering and product leadership to develop the roadmap that delivers tangible business impact. Understand the overall technology landscape and help steer teams towards keeping pace with industry standards and best-practices in the data engineering space. Provide support to several hundred data practitioners across Spotify by participating and offering engineering expertise as part of the data support rotation and office hours. *Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed anywhere within the Eastern Time Zone region of the U.S.Position requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of experience in data Software engineering and distributed systems or related role. Must have five (5) years of experience with the following: experience as a data engineer building large-scale batch and real-time distributed data processing frameworks; Scala, Java and their tooling ecosystem; JVM-based data processing frameworks such as Beam, Dataflow, Spark or Flink; High-volume distributed data systems such as Hadoop, BigTable and Cassandra; the data engineering space including data platforms, data processing technologies and modern industry trends; and Data modeling, data access and data storage techniques. Must have four (4) years of experience with multi-regional cloud computing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using tools such as BigQuery, BigTable, Cloud Storage and GKE. Must have three (3) years of experience with Agile software development practices to experiment, iterate and learn quickly releasing fast and often.
