Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

The senior editor at Upfront is involved in all aspects of producing an award-winning high school news magazine and its accompanying digital teaching resources. In addition to writing and editing national and international news stories for a teenage audience, the editor will oversee one of the magazine's regular departments as well as the teaching resources for each issue. Among the editor's other responsibilities is coordinating the videos for Upfront's website.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Writing, editing, and proofing articles.

• Assigning articles for a section of the magazine.

• Coordinating and editing teaching resources written by freelancers.

• Helping coordinate videos for the website.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

An ability to write with flair to engage our teenage audience is a must, as is attention to detail. The candidate also should be able to multitask, working on short- and long-term projects simultaneously. An abiding interest in and knowledge of the news is essential.

Experience: Six years’ experience writing and editing for a news publication. Experience writing for teens and/or the classroom a plus.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
