Morgan Stanley Senior Capacity Engineer in New York, New York

Position Description

WM Capacity & Performance Engineering team is a centralized team responsible for capacity, performance, scalability and reliability of all applications and platforms within Wealth Management Organization at Morgan Stanley. This position is of Senior Capacity Engineer role within the broader team.

We are looking for an individual with strong capacity management fundamentals and hands on experience managing the capacity of firm wide systems including on-prem, private cloud and public cloud systems.

Responsibilities

*Manage capacity for Wealth Management Tech and ETRADE, covering both risks and efficiency opportunities.

**Establish appropriate processes, tools, and models - define and collate planning inputs to generate appropriate insight and reporting.

**Identify risks and work on plans to mitigate.

**Establish means of tracking accuracy of forecasts and use this to continue to refine and correct forecasting models.

**Define and operate appropriate governance to track, report and manage capacity - enabling decision making for both the short and long term.

**Ability to articulate level of uncertainty within data and insight.

**Provide definition and deliverables on project roadmap to automate and improve our capacity management at scale solutions.

**Communicate across various functional teams and organizations, with internal and external stakeholders, to drive innovation in infrastructure capacity planning, delivery, and management.

**Manage Financial Transparency initiative.

**Spearhead Public Cloud enablement and governance by improving reporting, recommendations for workload placement, and manage spend and budgets.

**Collaborate with partners to define, launch, and operationalize new capabilities.

**Contribute to decision making at the leadership level.

Required Skills

**10 years of experience building software systems and/or planning and managing infrastructure capacity.

**5 years of experience with Data Analysis via Python

**3 years of public cloud enablement, financial transparency, and governance

**Understanding of large-scale distributed/cloud infrastructure

**Deep understanding of Capacity management controls.

**Ability to conduct Total Cost of Ownership and breakdown analysis.

**Ability to optimize current capacity and forecast based on business goals.

**Ability to multitask and work in fast paced environment.

Desired skills

**Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodology.

**Azure Cloud Certifications

**Experience with tools such as Cloudability

**Visualization Reports via Tableau / Grafana.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
