The anticipated salary range for this role is between $114,000.00 and $185,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

SMBC is in process of leading a Digital Transformation across our Americas Division as we continue to modernize our technology, focus on our data driven approach, grow and plan for the future. As a result of this expansion, we are seeking an experienced Technical BA to join our Front Office Technology team.

The Front Office Business Analyst is responsible for liaising between front office business users and technologists to exchange information in a concise, logical and understandable way in coordination with the Technology team. The objective of this role is to evaluate new IT developments and evolving business requirements and recommend appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems by analyzing business processes, systems and industry standards.

Role Objectives

• Work closely with Sales & Trading, and Control Function departments

• Provide input during development and implementation phases, including formulation and definition of system scope, objectives and necessary system enhancements for complex, high-impact projects

• Identify and communicate risks and impacts and propose risk mitigation options, considering business implications of the applications of technology to the current environment

• Work directly with the Sales & Trading Desk to help find remedies to alleviate day-to-day issues

• Analyze gaps in current flows to help with analysis of move to potential new platforms

• Work with vendors to verify functional requirements and testing of new or updates to existing software products

Qualifications and Skills

Essential skills:

• 5 years in Interest Rate and Credit cash/derivative trading/risk as a business analyst in front office

• Solid knowledge of broker-dealer/investment banking environment, sales & trade flows and eTrading domain experience

• Understanding of market data, market making, and pre-trade concepts

• Analytical skills to troubleshoot a variety of symptoms, diagnose problems, and test, recommend and implement solutions to technology problems

• Forward thinker who seeks to improve business processes that deliver better services

• Ability to convey complex information to both technical and nontechnical audiences

Desired skills:

• SQL and relational DB experience nice to have

• Investment banking experience in the trading or pricing domains, with Front-office trading tools exposure and a good understanding of trade flow

• Ability to take an organization to a position of industry leading innovation

• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels within an organization, within and outside technology

• Ability to work collaboratively and enjoy working in a fast-paced technical environment

• Strong work ethic and dedication to meet target dates.

• Strong negotiation, problem solving, time management and troubleshooting skills

• Detail-oriented, independent and able to adjust to changing priorities
