The School Outreach Liaison position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and families. The School Outreach Liaison will be the bridge between our family support program, schools, and the community, working to ensure children are safe, nurtured, and have the resources they need to thrive. They will collaborate with schools and the Chinatown YMCA youth development programs to proactively identify families who may benefit from preventive services and offer a menu of flexible and culturally sensitive support options designed to address family needs and prevent child welfare system involvement.School-Based Early Support: Catchment 1, 2, 3 (Districts 1 & 2).School Communities: P.S. 140, P.S. 142, P.S. 110, M.S. 131 & P.S. 42.Key Responsibilities:Essential Responsibilities-Work alongside families to understand their goals, values, beliefs, and cultural background.-Follow the YMCA guidelines and requirements be flexible with events and support for the branch.-Collaborate with the case planners and support them with cases their families/ cases.-Develop and deliver support plans that empower families to keep their children safe and healthy in a way that aligns with their unique needs; facilitate access to resources and services within the community to strengthen families and promote well-being.-The School Liaison staff will do intake and be attentive to the school's needs and communicate with the YMCA staff about the family’s progress and the families’ intakes between the school and the SBES/YMCA program.-Maintain the CONNECTION system and PROMIS updated after the intakes with the families; monitor and maintain the families according to their needs by ordering and requesting concrete goods and services.-Maintaining the folder well-kept and secure to make sure the case records are confidential; outreach the families by doing home visits, and other visits to explore the needs of the children and communicate with the school.-Facilitate Triple P curriculum, Positive Parenting Groups: EBP Lead will lead evidence-based parenting groups using the Triple P model, empowering parents with positive techniques to manage challenging behaviors and build strong relationships with their children.School Partnership, Outreach School-Based Offerings:-Conduct regular outreach activities to build strong relationships with families from diverse backgrounds. This may include attending school events, hosting information sessions, and developing targeted communication materials. You'll also collaborate with school teams to identify at-risk families and educate school staff about the program and target population.-Support school partnership and outreach efforts with guidance from the School Outreach Liaison.-Develop and execute a minimum of 4 School-Based Offerings: Identify the needs of the school community and create engaging programs such as workshops (parenting skills, financial literacy), cultural events celebrating diversity, and youth events promoting social and emotional learning in collaboration with respective schools, and existing CAMBA programs currently in operation.-Build strong relationships with families from diverse backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.-Identify at-risk families in collaboration with school teams.-Educate school staff about the program and target population.-Integrate the program with school prevention plans when appropriate.-Keep stakeholders informed through regular communication (newsletters, social media, meetings).Desired Skills & Experience:-Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, or sociology.-One (1) to two (2) years of related experience.-Bilingual: Spanish/English; Chinese/English.Benefits:The YMCA of Greater New York offers a variety of benefits to its staff members including retirement benefits, medical, paid time off, free YMCA membership and more!
