Insight Global Relay Protection Engineer (Electric Operations) in New York, New York

Looking for a Relay Protection Engineering to join the Distribution Engineering team within Electric Operations.

Core Responsibilities:

Evaluate the design and operation of Unit Substation Protection equipment, settings and schemes

Gather all relevant data for Unit Substation Protection specifications, settings and design drawings drafting

Gather all relevant data for Appropriation Funding Documentation Requests

Gather all relevant data for White Paper Project and Program Requests

Represent the department and the group at meetings and site visits as required during normal and emergency conditions

Use technical knowledge and competence to develop Unit Substation Protection design improvements

Identify cost-saving opportunities related to testing, maintenance and operation Unit Substation Protection equipment

Write, revise, and update department's specifications and documents

Identify areas to improve the performance and increase efficiency of Unit Substation Protection equipment

Make technical and economic studies to determine the best design features of Unit Substation Protection equipment

Work with internal and external customers including Electric Operation crews, Supply Chain, EH&S, Engineering groups, vendors, manufacturers and support staff and various levels of management

Perform other tasks and assignments as required

Skills and Requirements

5+ years' experience as a Relay Protection Engineer in electric distribution or transmission engineering

Experience evaluating the design and operation of protection equipment, settings, and schemes, as well as gathering relevant data for specifications and design.

Ability to write engineering specifications and interpret technical proposals in support of procurement processes and equipment requirements

Must possess experience in areas of electrical design and construction.

Possess strong organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills, as well as excellent written and oral communications skills.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering null
