How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
The Grade 8 Catering Regional Manager at Delta Air Lines will be responsible for overseeing all catering operations at JFK Airport, one of Delta's busiest hubs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operational management and a proven ability to drive performance improvements. They will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety, managing relationships with various stakeholders, and leading a team of coordinators to achieve operational excellence.
The role requires a focus on continuous improvement, compliance with regulations, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to Delta's customers.
The Regional Manager must meet or exceed all performance metrics for KPIs, including: D0, MI-19, aircraft damage, F&B NSAT, Operating Budget, WCD, Labor Hours, and catering processes and procedures. The Regional Manager will also maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards including methods and regulations driven by Delta, TSA, CBP, HACCP, USDA, Medina and FDA.
Summary of Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Owns and drives the station’s catering operations performance and the QC process; understands, champions, and adheres to the catering operational model.
Manages specification and product changes, and drives flight attendant, business partner and contractor engagement related to catering in JFK.
Maintains routine visibility and communication with the flight attendant group, field base leaders, and ACS stakeholders to ensure OBS priorities, changes, and needs are supported across the organization.
Serves as a SME, POC, and liaison between IFS field operations and OBS leaders.
Monitors and measures compliance to DL operating rules via key metrics and milestones for the operation.
Ensures compliance to processes and procedures, which drive the quality metrics. Performs audits of flights, meal production, ramp safety, security, and food quality.
Represents the hub and its performance at all Business Reviews (Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly), and develops plans/strategies to ensure achievement of all objectives.
Interprets and reports performance metrics to key stakeholders (internal and external) to drive accountability and escalate performance degradation (as necessary) in a timely manner.
Drives compliance to inventory reporting and process requirements.
Leads the coordination and implementation of OBS initiatives with key stakeholders.
Influences without authority to achieve desired operational changes to internal and external customers.
Leads change management exercise when specification changes occur.
Influences change without authority internally and externally to drive improvement and to achieve desired operational changes for internal and external customers.
Serves as POC for the caterer in the event escalation of concerns is necessary.
Drives solution-based recommendations and improvements to ensure integrity and success of the catering operation and its processes.
Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Able to effectively drive accountability of their direct reports and respective teams to meet established deliverables
The salary range offered for this position is $80500 - $218900 annually.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Must have a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, business disciplines, Industrial Engineering or similar (highly preferred) or equivalent relevant experience.
Should have demonstrated leadership experience, strong communication skills, and background/interest in operations.
Must have previous operational experience.
Should display an interest in transformational change, leadership growth, and a track record of servant leadership and ability to influence without authority.
Must be a strong team player, detail-oriented, and perform well under pressure.
Must convey a professional image with an ability to lead, manage, and communicate to all levels of associates in a team environment.
Must be able to effectively communicate and manage changes relevant to the integrity of the operation.
(If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in current position.

Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

Advanced computer, analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are highly preferred.
The ability to diagnose functional area constraints, strengths and weaknesses, and develop recommendations for improvement is highly desired.
