Scholastic Publicity Assistant in New York, New York
Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Publicity Assistant position is an exciting opportunity to learn the business of children’s books from the world’s leading publisher of content for kids. This role requires a highly-organized individual with meticulous attention to detail and strong communication skills. The Scholastic Publicity Department is a fast-paced environment with multiple projects going on at once. The position will be responsible for a variety of tasks including media mailing organization and tracking, creating press materials, booking author travel, etc . Additionally, this role will act as the primary publicity contact for 15–20 authors per season, securing media coverage, booking school visits and other events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Vice President and the Publicity department with administrative duties including mailings, routing projects, tracking reviews, galley orders, etc.
Manage monthly galley mailing process
Pitch media for reviews, author interviews, seasonal roundups, and other coverage
Plan and execute author events, including travel booking
Track media coverage and maintain correspondence with trade journals
Create and format pitch documents and PowerPoint decks
Manage and process invoices on behalf of the department

Qualifications

Ability to juggle multiple projects at once
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Passion for children’s books a plus
Experience: Publicity internship experience a plus but not required
