Underwriting - Business Transformation – Manager: Primary location for this role is in NY.

The opportunity

You'll be a part of EY's purpose of building a better working world, teaming with other professionals and our clients to solve the most complex challenges. Whether developing a target operating model, defining the Property and Casualty insurance product architecture, defining the future state capability maturity, or creating functional requirements, all of our services are provided through our service line delivery methodology. By using relevant service line, area and sector insights, account teams can convert more opportunities into EY engagements and continue winning in the market.

Your key responsibilities

You're likely to spend most of your time on operational aspects of client business. That means developing an in-depth understanding of our clients' unique needs and goals, before developing meaningful improvement insights. You'll also need to communicate effective new strategies with your team. You may be also involved in developing enablement plans and in their subsequent delivery to bring the strategies to life. Since you'll regularly be onsite with our clients, a significant amount of out-of-town travel will be involved in this role.

  • Anticipating our clients' needs and provide compelling strategic insights by constantly updating and sharing your consumer industry knowledge on the latest trends and leading practices

  • Great communication and influencing skills

  • Responding to complex issues in a wide range of subjects including consolidation, margin pressure, rising commodity prices, new regulations, global competition and breaking into new markets

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree and approximately 5 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 4 years of related work experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in Property and Casualty (P&C) underwriting commercial lines or specialty lines are preferred; Consulting experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise teams of business advisors through all phases of the project lifecycle, including requirements definition, process and prose creation, business re-engineering, application mapping

  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, client service and business writing and consulting skills, coupled with a strong interest in further designing, developing and integrating business operations and technology

  • Ability to research client inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, property and casualty insurance industry practices, and new application technologies

  • Travel to client site as necessary

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience with the following vendor products: Adaptik PolicyWriter, Duck Creek, Guidewire Policy, Guidewire Underwriting Management

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $127,100 to $233,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $152,500 to $264,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
