The Role

We are seeking a manager to join the Value Co-Creation (VCC) enterprise program team within American Express Technology’s Tech Business Management (TBM) organization. In this role you will have the opportunity to shape the future of how American Express prioritizes, designs, and builds products that customers love while driving engagement, collaboration, and innovation across the enterprise.

This manager role will work on the strategic planning and program management of Value Co-Creation, an enterprise-wide initiative with the goal of transforming Amex’s ways of working together across Business, Product and Technology functions to drive enhanced customer value and business outcomes faster. Examples of new ways of working include, but are not limited to: enhanced collaboration and co-creation across business, product, and technology through all stages of product development cycle; ensuring alignment with architecture frameworks and standards and SDLC controls; evolving investment portfolio planning, capacity management and execution oversight to enable the key tenets of the value co creation model.

This manager will be a member of the VCC Program Team, a team that will provide program governance, coordinate cross-functionally and lead the overall transformation. This team will also be responsible for designing and delivering change management, education, and communications to ensure successful adoption of the new ways of working across Business, Product, and Technology. Key to the overall program’s success will be the partnerships formed across Technology, Business and Product leaders, engaging them in the design and implementation of new processes and techniques, as well as the formation and support of value-stream aligned teams that will adopt the new ways of working to scale across the enterprise.

What You'll Do

The manager in this role will be an instrumental thought partner in strategic program planning, support the multi-year VCC roadmap, drive regular governance processes, and ensure successful implementation of VCC throughout the enterprise. Specifically, this manager will:

  • Manage the multi-year VCC roadmap and workplan, identifying ideal state and the strategic plan to achieve it while ensuring progress is made on next steps towards achieving program milestones

  • Monitor and evaluate the program’s performance through regular program reporting, analyzing progress and synthesizing key strategic insights fit for executive-level audience

  • Work closely within and across business units to manage day-to-day scale-up activities, tracking overall progress, timeline management, and proactively identifying risks and escalating if necessary

  • Ensure progress is made on developing and implementing strategy to enable scaling and evolution of VCC

  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on program milestones and next steps

  • Maintain and organize centralized document repository for key program materials and resources

  • Prepare executive-level materials and communications for a variety of audiences and forums

  • Influence others, often without direct authority, persuading with compelling data, facts, and conclusions

  • Collaborate effectively and build key relationships with cross-functional teams throughout the enterprise

Qualifications

  • Experience in project/program management working on high-priority, large scale strategic initiatives in the digital space

  • Experience in internal consulting/management consulting delivering transformational change, projects within digital/technology and change management disciplines a plus

  • Solid business acumen and problem-solving skills with high capacity for strategic/end-to-end planning and the ability to strategically identify implications and recommendations

  • Outstanding organizational skills with ability to manage and prioritize multiple workstreams simultaneously

  • Demonstrated track record of independently driving end-to-end results across priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and executing flawlessly

  • Experience designing governance structures, effective operating models, and new processes for programs and strategic initiatives

  • Proficient in developing high-quality presentations and communication materials for an executive audience is a must with a strong attention to detail

  • A self-starter with an ability to navigate ambiguity, form solutions out of white space, and easily adapt to a constantly evolving environment while continuing to make progress towards goals

  • Track record of influencing change within a matrixed organization (working across levels and job functions).

  • Interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build stakeholder relationships and work with cross-functional partners at all levels with strong executive presence

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate messages to a variety of audiences across functions and levels

  • High intellectual curiosity, ability to solve complex problems, strategic thinking mindset, and innovative thought leadership

  • Experience working with C-suite/executive-level leadership

  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and working knowledge of product development life cycle

  • Prior exposure to FinTech and the payment/banking industry

  • Extensive expertise in Sharepoint, Confluence, and Microsoft suite

  • Loves working in a lean, fast-paced, and dynamic environment

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA a plus

  • Located in New York

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
