ByteDance Inc. Production System Engineer (Multiple Positions) in New York, New York
Responsibilities Provide daily operational support for suite of servers and services running on Linux/Unix operating system and troubleshoot hardware and software issues and resolve them in a timely manner. Monitor server and services health and performance using internal and external monitoring tools, respond to incidents and alerts as they arise, and troubleshoot complex technical issues ranging from software bugs, hardware failures, configuration issues, and network issues. Deploy software and operating system changes on servers and services using a variety of tools. Support overall compute in the on-premise data center and in the cloud. Analyze incidents to determine root cause and follow-up to ensure proper fixes are deployed. Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of production servers. Qualifications Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following: Maintaining on-site corporate network and IDC infrastructures including routers, switches, and servers; Handling and fixing routine tickets and tasks related to data center ticketing system, including monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and fixing infrastructure components and services; Developing standard operation procedures for data center operations, including server repair, system rebuild, operating system provisioning, and data hall expansion; Performing system validation on server components including motherboard, CPU, memory, hard drives, back-plane, and power supply; Analyzing test result and debugging failures during server functional test and stress test using Python and shell scripting; and Developing scripts to achieve system automation.
